A Child’s Hope

This week I would like to focus on a story from Connecticut. It was presented by the NBC Connecticut News 30 affiliate. It involves a child by the name of Trey Wainman. Trey’s mother found herself worried when her son started experiencing tremors in his arms and legs. Trey’s arms and legs would jerk repetitively, during periods where his body was inactive.

Trey’s mother Meg was immediately alarmed. Her family doctor had no explanation as to why Trey was experiencing these tremors. Her solution was to bring Trey to Windsor Chiropractic in Windsor, Connecticut, and put him under that care of Dr. Matt Charles.

Under the care of Dr. Charles, Trey was able to virtually eliminate his downtime tremors. A motion x-ray of Trey’s spine showed that the first bone of his spine was out of place. Through a program of adjustments coming once a week, Meg Wainman was able to spend time playing with her son, instead of worrying about his health and mysterious tremors.

This type of story makes news headlines all of the time from town to town across the nation and afar. It is important to realize that chiropractic is making headlines each and every day with stories such as that of Trey Wainman.

What’s even more important to realize is that these stories are not miraculous. That is, they are not miracles. They are the product of a group of individuals with a keen understanding of how the body functions, and particularly, how the nervous system functions.

You see, nervous system function is the root of our survival. The 3 parts of your nervous system are the brain, spinal cord, and nerves that travel to every cell, tissue, and organ in your body. This system transmits messages back and forth to the brain. These messages coordinate every function of your body, whether you are thinking about them or not. Without this function, you could not survive.

A chiropractor utilizes this knowledge to reduce the interference from your brain to the many parts of your body. How do they do this?

Your spine is made up of 24 bones that house the spinal cord. The spinal cord is the information superhighway of your body. It is routing important messages every second of the day that you continue breathing. As long as you are alive, electrical messages will be shooting through your body, coordinating every single movement and function your body needs to execute to survive.

When one of your 24 spinal bones moves out of position to compensate for instability within your body (which is very common), it creates pressure on the nerves that exit between that bones and travel throughout your body. This out of place bone is called, in chiropractic terms, a subluxation. Chiropractors use this knowledge of nervous system dysfunction to analyze and adjust those bones back into position. The resulting restoration of nervous system function within the body can create dramatic results, as seen with Trey Wainman.

It is a simple philosophy and one that has proven in the lives of many chiropractic patients to be a real life saver.
